Bread and Circuses – ‘Slipstream’ ?

The latest exercise by the self-titled ‘Mainstream Anglican’ entity on this thread would be laughable, if it were not so ridiculous! In advertising its very own on-line public forum for ‘parents, professionals and clergy’ with the object of discussing ‘The Pansexual Revolution’, this conservative evangelical group is inviting people who are afraid of their children’s discovery of their innate gender/sexual identity that happens to be authentically different from the ‘binary norm’; to engage with talks from ‘organisations and others at the cutting edge of the culture war’.

Refusing to accept that the modern world has reached a more authentic and just way of dealing with gender/sexual identity issues, the organisers of this public engagement in the ongoing saga of sexism, homophobia and misogyny ought to be ashamed of themselves. Instead, they are prone to continue to foster the now unacceptable culture of what has been described as ‘Conversion Therapy’ – a now discredited theory of spiritual and psychological abuse that has caused mental, physical and spiritual harm and anguish to many of its recipients who, when the therapy fails – as it most certainly must in all except the most marginal of instances (where, for instance, a person might be intrinsically bi-sexual) – have been known to resort to self-harming activity, sometimes ending in suicide.

The word ‘pansexuality’ has been coined by the purists, who still insist that every single human being is ‘binary’ – either intrinsically male or female – with no (for them) morally acceptable excuse for acting differently from their assigned gender at birth. They also insist that those who display, for instance, same-sex attraction must be somehow disordered, and that if they act on this attraction to form a faithful relationship with someone of their own gender, then this is objectively ‘sinful’ and ‘against nature’. The contrary, in fact, must be true – if only measured by the fact that, for an innately gay person, the ‘natural’ way is to find a loving faithful, one-to-one relationship with someone of the same gender.

Anyway, to participate in this on-line forum – in person – will generate a useful sum of money with which to continue to the LGBTQI persecution. (10 to 40 Pounds for each participant. God help us all!
