This is a very important contribution to the thinking of the Church on matters of Human Sexuality. In postulating the dangers of locking the Church into a purely ‘Binary Sexuality’ – without recourse to arguments for a more diverse understanding of ‘different’ human beings – the Church may be lacking in the charity of Christ as exemplified by his own attitudes towards the marginalised and outcast in his own society.
The breadth of Anglicanism and its resource for ‘Caritas’ is surely more important than a severely doctrinal stand-off, on the basis of a highly contested, and outdated, understanding of human sexuality.
