‘Anglican T.V.’ – Parody of Anglican Communion Future !

The above link, available today through ‘Titus on Line’, treats us all to a good giggle about the opinion of Church of England priest, Peter Ould, whose grasp on the difficulties being experienced in the Anglican Communion at this time – on the impending division between conservative (Peter Ould, ‘Anglican Unscripted’ , Gafcon, Global South Primates,  Acna, & FCA, V.o.L.,) and – liberal Provinces of the Anglican Communion – is, predictably, biased towards the Sola-Scriptura, 39 Articles, ‘Jerusalem Declaration’ brand of ‘Orthodox Anglicanism’

As if things were not serious enough, the clowning attitude of Mr. Ould and his North American interviewer in the video – which does its very best to ridicule the attempts of Archbishop Justin Welby, Primus inter pares of the world-wide Anglican Communion, to reconcile the divergent elements of the Communion at a meeting in Canterbury in January 2016 – does little to assure viewers that Mr. Ould – or his interviewer – have any real regard for the schismatic actions that have taken place within the Communion already.

Peter Ould, as he will readily admit, has some personal understanding of the stigma faced by gay people in parts of the Anglican Communion. However, his insistence that, if they really want to,  homosexuals can be ‘cured’ of their homosexuality, leads many of us to question his understanding of the reality faced by gay people- especially  in parts of Africa and other places in the Communion, where the local Anglican Church goes along with the persecution and arraignment of homosexuals and their familes and supporters.

Therefore, his support for ACNA’s and the GAFCON Primates’ disrespect for TEC and the Anglican Church of Canada – which Provinces have done much to free their Churches from homophobia and sexism – though celebrated in this video representation, is hardly helpful to those around the world who are marginalised by virtue of their innate homsoexuality.
